A Lokean Devotional Vignette
“White-feathered ravens are an anomaly,” Loki teases, as I look at the new white streak of hair near my ear.
“Well, I never thought I’d see one, that’s for sure.”

“Look outside,” Loki instructs the moment I wake from sleep.
Dense fog. Every place I look.
“Happy Halloween.”
“You’re worrying too much. Please stop. Enjoy this time. There is adequate rest, food, shelter, and story. What more could you ask for, dear love? The work is just this,” Loki says as the wind whips my hair around my face and the raven flies overhead.

“It’s not only about the light. It is equally about the dark.” Loki opens my perspective.

“Oh dear gods…”
“Yes? What can I help with? Some light necking?” Loki tempts.
“It’s a figure of speech.”
“Fuck, I almost thought you’d actually asked for help for once, dear love.”
A Lokean Devotional Vignette
“Thank you for being with me.”
I squirm in my seat, waiting to be called on.
“Always,” Loki says fiercely, his hands on my shoulders.
A Lokean Devotional Vignette
“I want a life where I sleep, eat, drink, and play as I need to, and I work because I like to,” I tell him wistfully, daydreaming.
“You already have that, Love. Just listen to your body and your heart as they speak to you,” Loki says.
A Lokean Devotional Vignette
Rest does not mean you cannot do things.
Rest means putting down what can wait and doing what you feel like doing, what refreshes you.
“Rest from. Not rest because,” Loki teaches me.
A Lokean Devotional Vignette
“I am not that smart,” I tell him, tears stinging hot from my eyes.
“What are you measuring by?” Loki asks.
“Other people’s minds. Mine works differently. I see things simplified.”
“That’s why what you write is consumable. Complex ideas, alchemized into simple reflections of you, a mortal, and I, a god.”
