sun-stoked
seeding pearls
in soil
sun-stoked
seeding pearls
in soil
my legs became owl
and wings like scissors
scored the night
with tiny tears
eyes that mirror
my chest opens
revealing ripe heart
hemorrhaging love
blood near his feet
the sound of coconuts falling
my cage opened
rust dust
into branch
sky-touched
wind, mouth wide,
filled with pine needles and seeds
sun, a crown
the clouds
dip golden
my wingtips feel everything
antennae listening
and trees that tell tall tales at night
in the daylight, truth.
Eyes struck druse
bark cracked back
grief frozen
in structured teeth
carved from light
His jaw held me
from the belly
lifted me
to where stars speak
Burn stripes
mark new paths
through me
Breath catches flame
Disheveled alive
heat in my hands
holding stars
