Responsible for Ragnarök

A Lokean Devotional Vignette

“You are learning responsibility in your life, while I am responsible,” Loki explains.

I see, in my mind’s eye, Ragnarök and understand that Loki is capable of immense responsibility. My mortal lesson is to learn how to hold responsibility without believing I must hold it all. I am learning to carry what is mine, and not the measure of his responsibility. I am learning that my humanness is both a boundary and a protection.

Your End of the Cords

A Lokean Devotional Vignette

“Clear your mind. Rest with me. You’ve been terrified for too long. You can’t remember what it feels like to be held without expectation.”

Loki’s words cut through my trembling, gentle and warm.

“There are so many cords here. So many to cut at once. You need to be willing to let go of your end of the cords.”

No longer a puppet for puppeteers.

Right Side Up

A Lokean Devotional Vignette

“Dear love, light attracts the dark.” Loki turns me right side up.

“I’ve never thought of it that way.” I sit with it and feel my body grounded by it.

“You’ve lived it.”

A Pivot

A Lokean Devotional Vignette

“Pivot. That’s all it is, love. A pivot,” Loki says.

My heart hits my rib cage.

“I still have to feel it.”

Sheared Down

Strands I washed,
full of heavy emotion.

Grief worn tangible
for a year
before I could bear
carrying less.

The ritual.

Braid cut off,
shaved close enough
to feel sunshine
kissing my temple.

A section of hair
given up
to hear better

what the rain cries about,
angels singing,
my God
and His laughter.

I sat beneath the shears
wondering
if I’d feel this horrible relief
had I done it sooner.

I believe in perfect timing.
Even tragedy
holds mirror

It is right.

Sheared down,
I am softer now.
