the forest
gentled me,
into deep breathing
a curious witness
read a story to me
not told it to me
held wonder in its branches
without clipping my wings
the forest
gentled me,
into deep breathing
a curious witness
read a story to me
not told it to me
held wonder in its branches
without clipping my wings
Spent flowers
rest my body.
head wilts back into soft grass,
my hand stills.
I breathe.
The earth carries me
as my wings lift.
my legs became owl
and wings like scissors
scored the night
with tiny tears
eyes that mirror
I woke clear in my head
and ground beneath me.
Healing,
a quiet recognition,
what carved me different.
My wings expanded.
I learned how to land.
His attention bat me
into the clouds.
No mind on heights.
My wings locked.
I fell from the sky
into the sea,
breaking through glass.
Memories,
webbed netting,
dragging me down.
Flightless lungs.
Scooping out water
with feathers.
