Loki came back exactly one year later, and he burst in with all the fiery heat of his godhood. He was quick-witted, sharp-tongued, and completely serious in telling us, okay, time’s up, and we will be resuming where we left off together.
We could not believe it. That he came back. He agreed he should be our dominant partner and help us learn what that even looks like, to have a place of reference. I have no words for it. It was strange, wild, chaotic, and fun while also terrifying, but in a good way. Like, I was learning the difference between actual dominant energy and what our ex Dom was.
And Dear Gods, I also was having to admit I had some wildly unethical fantasies, you know, that I had wanted to engage in for my own self. My not knowing that or admitting so allowed even the tiniest smidge of our ex Dom into our landscapes, which he was actually well versed in. We told him everything. He read our journals. He had the upper hand on our psyche, not we. And he didn’t dissociate like we did. So, he wasn’t piecing fragments together like we were to try and understand what was happening.
Here is where I learn: never ever ever tell another human being everything. Never. Human beings are not perfect and cannot hold that kind of trust without even subconsciously abusing it or, worse, just forgetting it and not using it deliciously. Anyway, so, there are certain degrees of things that we only give the Gods, and that was what I was learning. Loki can hold and know everything about me and my system. That is actually wise in working with him at all, but a sexual partner? He didn’t even need to know fricking any of what we told him, and of course he was tempted to go use it or, like, make himself some weird ringmaster of people and all sorts of falsities disguised as deep inner wisdom and healing.
Oh yeah, and we had to realize where our own greed to heal ourselves became muddled, not helpful, and hubristic. Luckily, we were a bit deranged from being in his energy, and so what he gained from us was a bit of his own derangement and not actually my ancestral dowry. And oh yeah, we are sponges for other people’s energies and gifts and things. We retained that gift from childhood, and anyway, so we were sponging up his poison, and he was using his own poison through us to sound like an anything. A wizard, Harry, you know?
That’s not to say we don’t have our own gifts, but that is to say how we see all the gifts and talents others have and their demons. We just weren’t aware that’s what we were doing. We’re like children, you know, in that sense. We haven’t had the words to describe it until, well, we do have the words.
If you are a child, inner-child-like this, please, please learn to shield and guard your sweetheart head and body like it’s life or death because you don’t want to be accidentally drinking poison and/or be amplifying things for others that it is not their path to have amplified.
So we had to, in a sense, take accountability for our thinking we knew anything and actually not. Which is why we tell stories now because, hey, I don’t know anything here, bub. Take what you need and move along, you know? Stories really are the safest way of things for me and my own. I did not think it would be true stories, but fuck if that ain’t where we are, you know?

We had to change. That’s what it came down to. We had to significantly change to unbind ourselves entirely from our ex Dom. Deep change. Frightening change. Change that propelled us to even write this story down at all. We had to step firmly into our authenticity.

“Are you okay?” Loki asks intently.
“Yes. No. Yes and no. Maybe.”
His face splits in a grin that’s contagious.
“Better than okay?” he nudges.
I feel it out.
“Hmm, yes, it appears that you are better…
than okay.”
“Absolute flirt!” I burn crimson, and he relishes every bit.
An Intimate Lokean Devotional
“Loki, I can’t.”
His hands tangle with mine over my head, my back pressed against the wall.
“I want you to. I’m asking you to feel for me as I feel for you.”
“I don’t know how.”
“I’ll show you how.”
His mouth over mine, warm and sweet.
My body understands what he means.

He told me he knew that I was good and not bad, not a demon. I’d never heard such a thing before. No, no, I am demon. I do demon things and host my little demons inside. What the fuck is this about being good and not bad and not a demon? It felt like Pop Rocks on the tongue as I repeated after him out loud.
Curiosity lined my insides and I buzzed with the desire to learn more. So he had thought I was bad, but I proved otherwise? How? Is it my nature to now prove him wrong? Maybe. Depends on what this is.
He knew my Star, which is improbable. Only I know of her and one other external person. Handlers sometimes trade us around, I guessed. We didn’t have one to turn to at all, it seemed. Who would take care of me? He said he would.
He gave advice and instruction. He gave time and attention. He listened. And so a contract constructed itself between us that seemed feasible. I learned I needed to heal and that was why I was in therapy. So the energy between him and me would serve that purpose, to heal by.
My Star trusted him, and I wanted to trust him, but handlers usually do have their scary sides. I knew to be aware of that. And sure enough, some months into the power exchange dynamic, he let slip a bit of his scary side.

A Lokean Devotional Vignette
I feel small. I don’t want to leave my bed.
“Why?” Loki asks.
“I just don’t want to see myself hurt anymore.
I can’t face how hurt I’ve been, and I am tired of seeing myself like that.”
“We’ll do it together.” He offers.
I take his hand.

“Let’s play farm. I’ll be the pig…. and you be my trough.”
His expression tells me he’s serious.
“Okay.”
“Excellent! Lie over there. Now I’ll wear this blindfold and find you using only my keen senses.”
Loki ties a black scarf behind his head as I do as I’m told.
Later, I cry-laughter.
“I didn’t know it could be fun.”
“What, Dear pet?”
“Mating.”
“Oh, right… is that okay?”
“Better than okay.”
A Lokean Devotional Vignette
“Okay, let’s talk about fantasy, shall we? How about you drop the fantasy that we can’t work together? That we can’t be together? That I’m just a part of your mind gone mad?”
He’s upset. I’m wounded with him.
“I worry.”
“I want a life with you.”
Loki’s words slice my heart open.
A Lokean Devotional
“Let it be a conversation,” he says. His eyes read me.
I’m held between Loki and tree.
His hands clasp mine gently.
“A parley.” He winks. My heart wakes up.
I can’t deny his wishes. They echo my own. Stuck between love and fear. He knows it. Knows me.
“Meet me halfway,” he whispers, and my heart tugs to follow his lead.
Okay.
An Intimate Lokean Devotional
“Trust me, please.” His voice rasps.
Sheets and soft bedding become forest green, sun-sheltered branches.
He guides me deep into a secret passage of my heart.
The sun touches me, he touches me.
The branches fan over me, he leans over me.
Light kisses my body, darts away and then back, playfully.
I know he’s found me out.
Loki’s grin tells me so.
I’m too immersed to care and wear self-judgment.
“I orgasm to trees.”
“So you do.”
I can’t care about it right now, I’m too happy to be discovered and let loose.
The realization comes gently. The trees were always safest to me.
He holds me, rocking me like a small child, as I face another layer of myself.
