A Lokean Devotional Vignette
I chose a ring to take comfort in our bond,
to hold my vow solemn and within reach of remembering.
Simple, ouroboros, world serpent, his son.
Something I already had before knowing him.
I placed it on my ring finger.
I wore it through the nights and days, my husband gone and come again.
The ring began to burn a circle around my finger. I took it off to tend the burn and it kept burning for seven days. Loki kissed my burn, tracing it with his finger.
“You are my own and I am your own.”
Three years later, I wear the ring again. Three years of soul-searching, testing my faith and my sovereignty.
Intact.
He didn’t claim my soul.
He claimed my heart.
