The tiger sun bit into my petals,
burning them like blooming wasn’t work.
I turned inward,
pink with embarrassment
for having been outside too long.
Tending my root and scent,
twirling bright leaves,
distraction,
out from under big cat’s eye,
I crept along the twining fence.
